Marhaban Ya Rebellion - Cosplayer, Jhey Azalea
#MarhabanYaRebellion symbolize that the holy month of Ramadan is never exclusive.
It is a celebration uniting people of society with different backgrounds, interests, and stories through series of unexpected photographs.
Presenting Jhey Azalea, a cosplayer.
By definition, cosplaying is the art of costume playing. It is a performance art where the cosplayer dresses up as their favorite character from japanese, western, pop cultures to video games characters. The art of cosplay extends to crucial details from imitation of expressions, make up, costumes and environment.
Jhey started cosplaying since 2013. For him, cosplaying started off as a hobby to fill up his free time. Eventually, he fell in love with the art and entire process of cosplaying.
“Just like cosplay, at some point in our lives, I think we got to a point where we pretend to live life as someone else rather than our true selves,” says Jhey during our interview. “Knowing that, I always try to give my best to portray the character when I’m doing cosplay.” Jhey added.
“Celebration of Ramadan copes with respect and empathy without hate to anyone, all the time.”
