Gaya, 3 months.
A baby from a Muslim dad & Christian mom.
3 months ago, Gaya was born into the world. She is the first daughter of the loving couple of Aldy & Quincy.
Religion is perhaps considered the root that affects us as a human being. It shapes us to a complex individual, affecting our way of thinking and life. Despite marrying interfaith, Aldy & Quincy are very respectful towards each other’s choice of beliefs.
Having an interfaith marriage is legal but are widely discouraged culturally especially in Indonesia.
“3 main things that an interfaith couple must have: big guts, enormous tolerance, and unlimited love” Says Quincy during our interview. “God created love to unite, not to separate” Aldy added.
As parents, Gaya will be introduced to Aldy’s & Quincy’s faith, not to forget other religions.
“We will eventually let Gaya choose her own faith in the future. She is her own person. That’s how we share the celebration of Ramadan to Gaya.”
Ramadan celebration for Aldy, Quincy and Gaya is a season where they celebrate and pay utmost respect to their big family and tradition. Both wants Gaya to look forward to any celebration they share together forever.
